Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 10, 1886, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, Mar 10, 1886 Still feeling very sore and miserable and disinclined to much effort. However I went up and consulted Dr. Hunt about my eye who I think has discovered the trouble. Then I went over to 3rd Av and got my andiron I left there to be repaired. Have got my pictures all ready for the Academy. Shall send four--Auchincloss' picture, a Winter morning 20x30 and two late Autumnal subjects 20x24. Mr. Wallers telegraphs today that he did not buy the "peach blow vase" and that he was not at the sale. What is one to conclude? I invited Mrs. Scott to go with Calvert, Mary and me to the Opera of the Merry wives of Windsor this evening. It was nicely given and I enjoyed it more than the first time.
