Friday, Feb 11, 1887 Two carpenters came today, and shortly after Mr. Dennison the painter. He took a great fancy to the picture I painted at home this summer, "Autumn Fields" and I told him he had better buy it. He asked the price and I told him $600 but if he was inclined to buy it I would let him have it for something less. He is going to send men on Monday to do the walls of my new room and the floor. The carpenters have been at work most of the day tearing out all the work I did two years ago and taking it up to my new room and tonight it is all out, my little nest is no more and I sleep in my bed which is where the stairs and closet were this morning. In the midst of the greatest confusion Mr. & Mrs. John Forsyth called to see the little pictures, not expecting to see me but Bowyer and were rather surprised to see me. Things were piled top of each other and so they said they would be in town soon again and would call after I got settled. I went up to Dr. Taylors as usual. Sadie Crosby dined with us this evening and she, Marion, Bowyer and Downing went to Mrs. Villards ball. Calvert went to Boston on Niagara Park business. He had a discouraging interview with the Tilden executors today and was much troubled and disappointed.
