Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 20, 1888, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Thursday, Dec 20, 1888 Went to the dentists. Not so much to be done as I feared. Called at Wilmurts but the place was still closed although I saw by the paper his wife was to be buried yesterday. I promised Husted to send his picture tomorrow. Sedgwick came to my studio at 1 and I went with him over to Jersey City and put him on the train for Wilmington where he was gone to spend his Xmas vacation. He had a letter from his mother this morning on the train between Chicago and Omaha. She came near not making the connection at Chicago. Pinchot was in this afternoon. He and his wife and daughter are going to Mexico and he hopes I will go. Whittredge came in. He told me there is to be a meeting of the Paris exp. Jury on Saturday night and I have written Sara that I will come up on Sunday. Bowyer and his wife were at dinner with us. I spent the evening with them.
