Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 16, 1888, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, Mar 16, 1888 All day at the Academy where we are getting on well. The exhibition will cause discussion for its variety and catholicity. Mary & Sara came to my room to select a little picture for a wedding gift to Alice Crawford. It has begun to rain. Spent the evening with Mary & Sara. The streets are in a fearful condition now that the great body of snow is melting. When I came to my room I found a letter from Girard dated the 15th. They had received no mail from New York until Wednesday. The storm was not quite as severe there. I also had a letter from Janette Hubbard.
