Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, August 7, 1889, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, Aug 7, 1889 Another perfect day. Downing and I got to work early and kept steadily at it all day. It was very hard for me to go up and down the side hill as we were obliged to do several times. We thought we would not be able to finish but we worked after tea until dark and in the evening Downing made a plot of the ground. He left for Cazenovia by the train at 11.55 in the evening from Kingston. I was pretty well tired out.
