Summary: The Gurdon G. Woods papers measure 2.5 linear feet and date from circa 1948-1990. Included is correspondence with Grace McCann Morley, Jock Reynolds, Richard Hayton, Sean Elwood and others as well as original Christmas cards received; notes and writings by Woods consisting of commencement addresses, lectures, one manuscript "New Prospects in Design Education" and writings by Woods's students; works of art including student drawings by Joan Brown and othes; printed material consisting of newspaper clippings, gallery announcements, posters and exhibition catalogs.
Additional material includes project files on the San Francisco Art Festival, the San Francisco Art Association, the San Francisco Art Commission, the San Francisco Museum of Art, and other events and topics, including proposals for long range development of the visual arts program at the University of California at Santa Cruz; notes and writings by Woods and his students; photographs and slides of Woods, his work, exhibitions and travel, Louis Siegriest and Jay DeFeo; and various subject files.
Also included are scrapbooks in binders and loose scrapbook pages; an alphabetized record of Woods's sculpture; and two U-Matic videotapes.
