Biographical/Historical Note
Lorraine O'Grady (1934-2024) was a conceptual artist whose use of text, photographs, film, and installation examined the foundations of human connection. She also wrote about Black women's experiences in the arts, both as depicted subjects and emboldened makers, and she spent most of her career in New York, NY.
Judith Olch Richards (1947- ) is former executive director of iCI in New York, N.Y.
