Biographical/Historical Note
Ricardo E. Alegría (1921-2011) was an anthropologist, historian, and educator in Puerto Rico. He founded the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña and the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe. Luis R. Cancel was an artist, arts administrator, and public servant.
