Description: Tape 01 Side 01 and Side 02 until 00:09:15 is done in an echoing space and has portions of muffled and incomprehensible speech. Recording is an unnamed paint manufacturer representative giving a presentation and answering questions from the audience. Discussion topics include properties of acrylic paints by different manufacturers, mixing paints and colors, types of paint, effects of time on paintings, fading, and comparing acrylic paint, oil paints, and watercolors. Recording on rest of Tape 01, Side 02 and Tape 02, Side 01 has background noise and numerous breaks of varying length. Recording is of meeting of the national board of Artists Equity Association. Discussion centers on the strategy of Artists Equity Association relating to legislation about paint manufacturers. Board members include Eleanor Dickinson, George Koch and others. Last three minutes of Tape 02, Side 01 consist of fragmented recordings and pauses. Tape 02, Side 02 has fluctuating channel balance. Recording begins with a discussion between George Koch, a representative of the New York chapter of Artists Equity Association (possibly Bert Weiman), and others. Discussion centers on the need for national organization representing artists, New York chapter rejoining the national association, and cooperation of artists organizations, such as Artists Equity Association, American Craft Council, and International Sculptors Conference planning a health insurance program. Tape 02, Side 02 recording starting 00:26:12 is of a panel discussion about roles critics, curators and dealers have in the art world. Discussion is an activity of the Santa Barbara chapter of Artists Equity Association. Sound quality is low and portions of discussion are difficult to understand.
