Summary: The Janet Koplos interviews with artists dates from 2004-2023. Included are 156 digital sound recordings of interviews with American craft artists, mainly those that work with clay, created in preparation for her book, What Makes a Potter/Functional Pottery in America Today, Schiffer Publishing, 2018. zin terviews date from 2011-2014. Several interviews have corresponding transcripts.

Also found are 55 digital interviews and transcripts conducted by Janet Koplos with writers, editors, artists, curators and other individuals conducted for a project with the New Art Examiner, Chicago, Illinois, 2013-2023. Also included is a digital transcript of an interview with Carol Goldberg conducted by Diane Thodos, date unknown, and an interview with Derek Guthrie conducted by Koplos on seven cassettes with accompanying transcript, 2004.

Biographical/Historical Note

Janet Kolpos is an art historian and author. Koplos is the co-author of Makers: A History of American Studio Craft, an honorary fellow of the American Craft Council, and a contributing editor to Art in America magazine, where she was a staff editor for 18 years.
