The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence, including letters Baker wrote to her family while in Europe as well as letters from family and friends. Also found are scattered biographical materials.
Biographical/Historical Note
Sarah M. Baker (1899-1983) was a painter and educator in Washington, D.C.. Baker studied at the Maryland Institute of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and continued her education in Europe. She was a longtime faculty member at American University in Washington, D.C..
