Summary: Correspondence, 1960-1995; photographs, ca. 1925-1960, files on artists, containing photographs of work, clippings, and exhibition announcements; and original art work by Cooper Union Classmates Jean Wong, Marty Bloom, Rosamund Tirana, Bill King, and Stanley Fisher. Among the correspondents are Edward Albee, Elmer Bischoff, Joan Brown, Herman Cherry, Herschell Chipp, Norman Kantor, George Lloyd, and Erle Loran.
Biographical/Historical Note
Artist, sculptor, educator; Berkeley, Calif. Gordin was born in Russia. He emigrated to the U.S. and studied art at the Cooper Union of Art and Architecture in New York. He taught at Pratt Institute, Sarah Lawrence College, Brooklyn College, and the New School for Social Research before accepting a position at the University of California, Berkeley in 1958. He was the head of the art department from 1958-1986.
