Scope and Contents
The papers of Valerie Harrisse Walter measure 1.2 linear feet and date from 1911 to 1979. The papers document her career as a sculptor through correspondence with colleagues and art institutions; a description of an experience with a gorilla for a sculpture piece, notes, and other writings; a resume, one watercolor painting, list of works and other professional activity; scrapbooks of primarily photographs and clippings; exhibition catalogs, clippings, and other printed material; and photographs and albums of Walter, her sculpture pieces, and subjects that posed for her pieces.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Material on reel D239 lent for microfilming 1965 and portions subsequently donated 1983, along with unmicrofilmed material by Valerie H. Walter via Mrs. Henderson Braddick, niece of Walter.
Separated Materials
The Archives of American Art also holds microfilm of material lent for microfilming on reel D239. Loaned materials were returned to the lender and are not described in the collection container inventory.
