Summary: The papers of New York-based painter and muralist Knox Martin measure 0.2 linear feet and date from 1950 to 1981. The papers include a 1963 interview, biographical material, correspondence, printed material, photocopies of drawings for a patent application, exhibition announcements and catalogs, financial material, photographs and slides of Martin and his work, and miscellany.
Biographical/Historical Note
Knox Martin (1923-2022) was a painter and muralist based in New York City. He was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and came to United States with his family in 1924. He studied at the Art Students League and taught at Yale University, University of Minnesota, New York University and his alma mater the Art Students League.
Provenance
The papers were donated to the Archives of American Art in 1981 by Knox Martin.
