Summary: The papers of painter Mimi Gross measure 0.9 linear feet and date from 1960 to 1981. The bulk of the papers focus on the relationships between Mimi Gross and Red Grooms and their artist friends and family members. Found are sketches, biographical material, correspondence, printed material, and an unsigned writing.
Biographical/Historical Note
Mimi Gross (1940- ) is a multimedia artist and painter in New York City, New York. Gross began exhibiting at a young age in Provincetown, Massachusetts and her work is included in numerous public collections in the United States and internationally. Gross is a member of the faculty at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and is the daughter of Chaim and Renee Gross. She was married to Red Grooms from 1963-1976, and collaborated with him on many large mulitidimensional installations from 1960-1976.
