Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Sunday, June 15, 1873, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Sunday, June 15, 1873- During the week I received a circular from the Cincinnati Exposition and a special note asking me to contribute my picture of "November" to the coming exposition in Sept. I replied that probably I would send it and perhaps my "Kaatskill Woods" which they wanted last year. Mary, Vaux, Downing, Julia and Laura came up on Friday evening and on Saturday morning Vaux and I took the train for Shokan at 7.15 spending the day there sketching on the stream. We had a charming day and left there at 4.33 arriving home at 5.30. Vaux and Mary left for Fishkill by the 6. o'clock train. Wrote to Bayard Taylor today and to Frank Thurber.
