Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, August 23, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Went to Shokan today and walked up to Watsons and engaged board at Mr. Hoyts where I am to go on Wednesday for a few days to look about and find some thing to paint. It was a cool shadowy day with a north wind and I enjoyed my walk but am tired tonight. Found letters from Whittredge and from Eastman Johnson both of which I have answered this evening and also one from Mr. McVickar, who writes that Booth is getting on nicely. Also wrote a note to Joe Tubby and one to Platt telling him he would get an offer in writing for the articles I appraised. Miss Noxon went home today.
