Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Friday, August 27, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wrote to Joe Tomkins to come here when he comes East so that we may talk over and advise on our affairs. Recd a letter from Gussie in which she says he is coming on the last of this month. A Mrs. O'Reilly hired my fathers house under the hill this morning at $250 a year from Sept. 15 with the understanding that if they will take it for a year from May 1 she can have it on the same terms. My father is to fix the coal house, put in the glass, clean the house and spoke of building a picket fence in front of the two houses.
