Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, September 30, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Gertude and I walked down to the Strand yesterday. Met Joe Tubby who asked me when I was going out sketching. Said he was going out and was obliged to ask him to go along. Dont know how Whittredge will like it as he is a stranger to him. Had a note from Whittredge today. His eyes trouble him yet but he thinks he will come on Monday. My father sold one of his houses below the hill today which takes a load of anxiety from my mind. Recd a letter yesterday from Frank Weeks wanting to know if we are going to the Laurel House this fall. Wants to visit us there. Wrote him today we were not going. Wrote to Joe Tomkins and to Booth. Have been very despondent for several days. Shall be glad to get to work. If Whittredge does not come Monday will go out on Tuesday.
