Jervis McEntee Diaries

Monday April 24, 1876

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Monday, April 24, 1876, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Went up to Rondout on Saturday and returned today. Took a nice ride Sunday with my father, Sara & Miss Wood out on the Flat bush road. The sanguinaria was in blossom, the buds are swelling and the grass is green. Snow still on the Shandaken mountains. At Pokeepsie saw Mary Gifford, Julia and Lily Wilkinson come down to see Mr & Mrs Weir on the train with whom I rode down. Weir has been lecturing at Vassar College and they were returning.
