Jervis McEntee Diaries

Tuesday October 10, 1876

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Tuesday, October 10, 1876, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

The weather is cold and windy so that I do not believe it would be comfortable to sketch out of doors. Calvert & Downing dined with me and Calvert and I attended the opening of the Aquarium. There was a crowd of people, a fish collation, a bad smell, and speeches and not much to see so I came away early and wrote to Gertrude and to Weir.
