Jervis McEntee Diaries

Thursday October 12, 1876

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Thursday, October 12, 1876, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Sent the picture I have just finished to the Union League Club monthly meeting which takes place tonight. I put the price at $450 and I pray some one will buy it. Received a letter from Gertrude enclosing a nice, long hearty one from Booth from San Francisco and one from Eastman Johnson saying he was coming to New York in a few days. I omitted my morning walk and sat down immediately to answer Booths letter as it seems he had written me a letter from Chicago which I never received. I got to painting on a small picture when Hubbard came in and after he had gone Joe Tomkins arrived. He and Gussie arrived at Rondout on Tuesday evening. They came on account of Lauras illness but she is decidedly better he says. He and Downing dined with me and spent the evening.
