John Andrews and I drove up to Eddyville or rather opposite there to see the devastation made by the flood. The whole creek has burst through at the Guard lock devastating the whole flat and carrying away houses, barns, boats & every thing in its track. We came home by Greenkill. It was quite cold. Have been very busy all afternoon about many little things and feel extremely nervous. We began the curtains for the parlor. I cut out the trimmings from what I bought in N.Y. The curtains are what Gertrude and I bought several years ago. Had a letter from Nash inquiring about pictures. Answered it. I go to Boston tomorrow via Rhinebeck & Connectictut R. R.
