Jervis McEntee Diaries

Saturday February 9, 1878

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Saturday, February 9, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Went at the Richelieu and painted from recollection and I think made it more like him. Went home by the 4 'oclock train and rode in the Drawing room car in great comfort. Tom met me at the ferry. Great deal of ice, but no trouble in crossing. Found my father quite ill and looking very feeble. He staid in bed all day Sunday. It snowed all night and was still snowing Sunday and snowed most of the day a delightful storm. I saw innumerable pictures. Cleared off towards night.
