Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, September 12, 1882, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Tuesday, Sept 12, 1882 Down to Rondout early to see about lumber and paint for the barn. A magnificent day with fine, rich atmosphere and a brisk north wind. Mixed the paint and began to paint the barn this afternoon while Tom drew materials for the cement work. Am anxious to finish as soon as possible so as to go sketching. Would like to have been at work today. A letter from Wilmurt telling me my picture was still in my room the man he wanted to show it to having gone out of town. I had written him again today. Alice sent me her photograph and her two little girls.
