Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, April 19, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Thursday, Apr 19, 1883 Joined Weir and his wife at the St. Davis hotel and went to Coney Island, a long ride with the horse cars through Brooklyn nearly to Greenwood where we took steam car and went to Brighton pier. The wind was East and the day not entirely clear. Wandered along the beach until lunch which we got at Van Deusens, not very nice and came back at 4 reaching home at 6 pretty tired. Called at Fred Nortons in the evening. Have invited Mrs. Weir & Lily to lunch tomorrow. If they cannot come will let me know by 8.
