Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 1, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Thursday, Feb 1, 1883 The weather is very cold again. Calvert came over to see my pictures. Annie Lee and her Aunt Mrs. Tailer came and made a long call. Fitch came to tell me Mr. Gordon wants an Autumn picture for a friend and advised me to send mine to the club Saturday. He has very kindly offered to see that I have a frame for it. Painted on my Spruce Creek picture 30x36 which I think I will send to the Academy. Called on Annie Lee in the evening at Fred Nortons to bid her good bye as she goes home tomorrow. Met Rev. Mr. Donald then the rector of the church corner of 10th St and 5th Av. a young man who came to see me once. Afterwards attended a meeting of the Century trustees, at which the annual appropriations were passed, all of them reduced in view of the prospect of the club going up town which is now almost assured.
