Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, January 31, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, Jan 31, 1883 A dark dismal morning with a thunder shower towards noon after which it cleared and the sun came out bright, so that I painted until 3 oclock when by appointment I called at Fred Nortons for Annie Lee with whom I went to call on Mrs. Lockwood De Forest. From there we called on Mrs. Wheeler & Dora in Doras studio in 23rd St but as it was their reception day did not see much of them. In the evening Calvert and I called on the Churchs who are in the Osbornes house for a couple of months while they are gone traveling.
