Sunday, Dec 28, 1884 I did not go home but went to the Century last evening and had a pleasant evening meeting Ward, Dr. Yale, Ernest Parton and others. The new ticket for election of officers was posted and I saw that my name is left off of the trustees. However I was prepared for that as I have been on the board eight years I think. Today has been most dismal with fog and slush. After breakfast I came to my room and laid in my winter picture from my window. Calvert came over and we walked over to dinner together at 2 oclock. After dinner I went out and called on Mr & Mrs. Platt. He has recovered entirely from his pneumonia. After tea Calvert and I called on Julia Dillon and Gertrude Tremper. Fred Norton came in. About 9 oclock we walked over to my room and smoked a cigar and Calvert has just gone home. A messenger brought me an invitation from Mrs. Bishop Putnam to dine with them on Wednesday evening next, which I have accepted. Moschelles was at the club last night come over again to fill his purse. From all I hear he is a schemer. Ernest Parton said he never heard of him until he came here and that he is utterly unknown in London.
