Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 1, 1884, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, Mar 1, 1884 Still very cold. Bowyer and I went home by the 3.40 train. Tom met us with a sleigh. It was so cold our ears tingled riding home. I looked at the thermometer just before I went to bed and it was only 1 above zero. They say they have felt the cold more the past week than at any other time during the winter. We had our weekly meeting at our home all being present except Gussie who is very miserable.
