Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, November 8, 1884, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, Nov 8, 1884 Charlie and I took a walk over the high bridge and out on the bluff opposite Wilbur returning by the ferry. Park went with us. It was a pleasant day, but somehow nothing seems pleasant to me. I am in so unsettled a state. Received a letter from Weir. I wrote to him in June and this is the first I have heard from him. The election is still in doubt both sides claiming it. The Democrats are very threatening and they had better bear in mind that it will not be easy to frighten the men who crushed the Rebellion.
