Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, September 13, 1884, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Saturday, Sept 13, 1884 Calvert and I left for Mink Hollow on the noon train. At Mr Pleasant got Cockburn to take us up to Wilburs where we arrived at 4. Found there Mr. Swain & family who were here last year. It was a fine brisk day with a N. W. wind. Took a walk up to our camp of a year ago. Every thing just as we left it except that a rank growth of fire weed had sprung up where our tents were and our fire was built.
