Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 22, 1887, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Tuesday, Feb 22, 1887 Dark and threatening this morning but cleared later and this evening is colder. The last of my effects were brought up today and I have worked hard arranging my room. Now I am pretty well settled. Bradford called to tell me he had a telegram from his friend to say he would not come to town today as the weather was so unsettled. Wrote to Sara. My room is most satisfactory. The carpenter has at least gone but is still at work doing a little patching in my old room to restore what I disturbed. We must get done tomorrow. Now the next thing is to pay for all this but I am hopeful and not despondent. I do not hear from Sam, but as this was a legal holiday there were no mails.
