Summary: The Herman Rodnick papers on New York-based painter and educator Hans Hofmann measure 0.01 linear feet and date from 1947-1967. The papers include typescripts of nine lectures by Hans Hofmann, annotated by Rodnick; Hofmann obituary; announcements for Hofmann exhibitions at Kootz Gallery, 1949 and 1951, and Andre Emmerich Gallery, 1967; a Christmas card from Hofmann, 1958, probably to Rodnick; and printed material from the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts, 1947-1957.

Biographical/Historical Note

Herman Rodnick was possibly a student of Hans Hofmann, a painter and instructor. Hofmann has been called "dean" of American Abstract Expressionism.
