The papers of author Marian King measure 0.8 linear feet and date from 1934 to 1964. Found are illustrations by Steele Savage for King's book The Coat of Many Colors, correspondence including letters from Maurice Sendak, Andrew Wyeth, and William Zorach, photographs and reproductions of works of art, and research notes and writings by King and Rose Henderson.

The papers were arranged and microfilmed onto reels microfilm reels 1002-1003, 3090, 3483, and 3667 upon receipt. The collection was processed, and a finding aid prepared by Jayna Josefson in 2023 with support from the Smithsonian American Women's History Initiative.
