Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Friday, July 24, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Friday, July 24, 1874- [McEntee enters this as July 23] Took a nice walk to the Roatina this morning taking Marion & Lory with me. A most lovely breezy day. Painted on a new picture of Mrs. Wood but finally scraped it all off and began a new one. Rode up to Kingston with Gertrude. The Beecher Tilton scandal is excercising every one. I dont go into it very deeply but so far as I can judge Tiltons case is most weak. Made two drawings on wood this afternoon.
