Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 29, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, Dec 29, 1875 Was very ill in the night and have felt so badly today that I have done no work. I think the dull wet weather accounts for my illness. Went out to attend to some affairs. Girard came at noon and Eastman Johnson also. Went to see the Siege of [?] at the Colisseum this evening. It was quite interesting. It rains and the weather is depressing. [?] cold weather in winter.
