Jervis McEntee Diaries

Wednesday February 10, 1875

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Wednesday, February 10, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Went to work on a picture this morning 20x24 which I intend for my contribution to the Academy fund. Just as I got fairly at the sky there was a knock at my door and Joe Tomkins came in. I was glad to see him although I expected my sky would be ruined. He staid two hours and after he went away I pitched in and made the paint fly and I think I have the foundation of a good picture. Dined at Frank Weeks. Recd. a note from Mr Holt saying his wife was ill and the dinner for tomorrow would have to be postponed. Wrote to Gertrude from whom I received a letter this morning.
