Artfellows Cooperative gallery was founded in Belfast, Maine, in 1980 by twenty local artists looking to exhibit and sell their work, engage in dialogue, and increase the community's knowledge and enjoyment of art. It was located on the first floor of 16 Main Street; the second floor served as a studio for painter Lois Dodd. The gallery had over thirty members at its height, and in its 17 years of existence, received regional and national recognition from the press and other well-known galleries.
