Scope and Contents
The papers of Belle Baranceanu date from 1934 to 1956. Found are seven linoleum block prints of animals made by Baranceanu for the Works Progress Administration, Fine Art Project, San Diego Curriculum Project. Also found are clippings about Baranceanu; and photographs of Baranceanu and of her murals at schools and institutions in the San Diego area.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Material on LA02 was lent for microfilming 1964 by Belle Baranceanu and returned to the donor after filming. Block prints on reel 2786 were donated by Mr. and Mrs. James Clarke of San Diego; their relationship to Baranceanu is unknown. Information on the block prints was taken from an index card stored with the prints.
Existence and Location of Originals
Original material on LA02 was returned to Baranceanu after microfilming.

The collection was partially microfilmed on reel LA02 and was returned to the the donor after filming. Additional donated material was microfilmed onto reel 2786. The collection was described in a finding aid by Jayna Josefson in 2024 and the microfilm on reel LA02 was digitized in 2024 with funding provided by Federal support from the Smithsonian Collections Information System (CIS) IRM Pool Fund.
