Toshiko Takaezu papers, circa 1925-circa 2010

This series includes photographs of Toshiko Takaezu in her studio, teaching workshops, and attending various events. There are many photographs of Takaezu's artwork, exhibition installations, and opening receptions. Also found herein are photographs of artists such as Lenore Tawney and Lee Nordness; Brooke Shields, who was one of Toshiko Takaezu's students at Princeton; and friends such as Rush Rehm. Most of the series consists of photographs, but there are some slides, negatives, and transparencies as well.

The photographs of Toshiko Takaezu are at the beginning. The rest of the series is arranged by subject, such as workshops, exhibitions, artwork, other people, and personal snapshots.

The bulk of this series has been digitized. Materials which have not been digitized include blank versos of photographs and duplicates. Due to the large amount of snapshots, only a sampling of the personal photographs from the 1970s to 2010 have been digitized. For the same reason, only a sampling of the photographs from the 1990 Toshiko Takaezu exhibition at Bristol Myers Squibb reception. One folder of negatives of artwork has not been digitized since it consists of duplicates of images in other folders. This series also includes born digital photographs. Photocopies of photographs and printouts of digital photographs were also not digitized.
